Vertex is a level editor for brush geometry, terrain, models, entities, and map scripts. It runs on Windows and macOS. A game's SDK supplies its assets, entity types, compiler, and playtesting tools.

Vertex and your game

You can draw geometry and export models without a game SDK. To place game entities or build a playable map, open the SDK supplied by that game's author. Vertex reads the available tools from that connection; installing a different SDK changes the assets and entity types you can use.

For Grimwar, install the Grimwar SDK from Steam's Tools library. Its VSDK launcher sets up the compiler and opens Vertex. Follow SDK setup before the first map build.

Keep your editable .vertex file, scripts, and imported media together. The exported add-on is a separate build that players install. Keep the source even after publishing.
